Sons of Confederate Veterans

Who are We?

We are a non-profit group of historically connected patriotic Americans who trace our ancestry to men who fought in Confederate Service during the War of Northern Aggression ("War Between the States" to you Yankees) 1861-1865.

We are one of over 800 such camps spread over the United States that derived from the original "United Confederate Veterans" founded in 1896. The statement that follows here was given by Lt. General Stephen D. Lee, Commander General United Confederate Veterans in New Orleans, Louisiana, 1906:

"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we submit the vindication of the Cause for which we fought; to your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles he loved and which made him glorious and which you also cherish. Remember, it is your duty to see that the true history of the South is presented to future generations."
